The Blizzard of ’78 blew through 47 years ago today. Starting on February 6, 1978, snow fell for 37 hours with rates up to 4 inches an hour at times. People attempted to leave work, and or school and many got stranded on the highway or had to walk back home in heavy snow and strong winds. In total, Boston received 27.1 inches of snow while other parts of the state received 30 inches. | WBZ / CBS News Boston
